This is my first post so please forgive me if I do something incorrectly.
What started out as being a possible issue trying to login to my BOA account, has turned in to some very suspicious behavior. I do have 3 machines on the same DSL server and these problems are only affecting this one. I'm presently running XP Home and IE7. Here are just some of my issues: - can access my bank, my not my own account information; using https - can access yahoo.com but no my.yahoo.com website - cannot sent outgoing mail - can access many main sites, but cannot drill down by clicking on the available links What makes all of this very unusual is that I can restart my pc and all of this goes away for a brief period of time. I just recently installed Firefox to see if that would make a difference, but it does the same thing. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I've had a very stressful weekend trying to figure this one out. bennyb2 |

Re: Do I have an IE7 issue or a virus?
Hello Benny, Welcome to TSF!
![]() I recommend that you read this article… "Having problems with spyware and pop-ups? - First Steps"; follow the instructions very carefully; then, post all the requested logs and information; as instructed, in the HiJackThis Log Help Forum. (Simply, click on the coloured links to be re-directed.) Please ensure that you create a new thread in the HiJackThis Log Help Forum; not back here in this one. When carrying out The 5 Steps, if you cannot complete any of them for whatever reason, just continue on with the next one until they are all completed. However,it is extremely important to make mention of the fact that you could not complete any of the steps in your post to The HJT Help Forum; where an Analyst will assist you with other workarounds. Once done, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are usually very busy; one of them will answer your request as soon as they can. Good Luck with it. Kind Regards,

Re: Do I have an IE7 issue or a virus?
Dave,
I wish I had the opportunity to do the steps you have provided, but unfortunately, while trying to access my bank account again, I received the dreaded "blue screen" and the system crashed. I have not been able to get Windows to reload. I get it to the point where you can see the Windows screen, but when it appears to proceed by going dark, it never comes back. I am now in the process of preparing to install a fresh copy of Windows on another HDD to see if this will resolve the issue. If you have any other suggestions at this point, I would certainly be open to trying something different. With my limited knowledge, I just don't see that I have any other options. Thanks again for your assistance, Steve |

Re: Do I have an IE7 issue or a virus?
I was not able to get beyond the screen where you hit delete so you can get to the BIOS. I had to restart it several times even to get it to beep. I'm assuming that the mobo has gone bad. It was an Abit AN8 32X and it's already been discontinued, so I'm considering upgrading at this point.
Any suggestions on a decent mobo. My thought is to upgrade now so I can get the machine up and running and then spend the time later trying to decipher if this mobo is worth keeping maybe for a backup machine. With Memorial Weekend coming up, I'm sure there will be some good sales going on, so I'm going to shop around. I've actually got two other machines anyway so I'm not dead in the water. Thanks for checking back with me. Steve |
