[SOLVED] IE7...crash...IE8...CRASH!
Hello everyone.
![]() I just joined the forum, and this is my first post: I recently uninstalled IE7 as it kept crashing, especially when logging onto secure sites. I tried several fixes I found on the net (including resetting it, from options on the advanced tab), but nothing I did made any difference. Finally I installed IE8 beta 1, but it also crashes exactly as 7 did, especially on secure sites. Sometimes it crashes continuously as I try to log onto any site, secure or not, and after three or four attempts it finally logs on. I tried the automatic dll fix listed on this site but it makes no difference. Although, four dlls "failed to load." I assume they're not in IE8. Also, on the Advanced tab no settings are displayed at all. Below is the message it displays at every crash: Last edited by JeremyT; 05-06-2008 at 02:42 AM. |

Re: IE7...crash...IE8...CRASH!
Thanks Go The Power, but unfortunately I already did that procedure twice and it doesn't stop the crashing.
It also does not fix the Zoom feature problem I wrote about in my other post: when I untick "Reset zoom level to 100% for new windows and tabs," it still goes back to 100%, even though I set it to 80%. |

Re: IE7...crash...IE8...CRASH!
Sorry, if I say the same fix in both threads, it means that I forgot that I am dealing with the same person.
![]() Open up Toolbar cop again, find the following entries: Toolbar: SYSTRAN Toolbar - {95DAA571-4DEF-4A6D-97D8-98A346672A24} - mscoree.dll - Enabled - All Users BHO: (Empty) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (empty) - Enabled - All Users Right click on each of the above and click Delete, then click Yes when prompted |

Re: IE7...crash...IE8...CRASH!
I deleted those two entries but IE8 still crashed. I then continued to delete all the other toolbar entries one at a time, but IE8 still crashes.
I've again attached the ToolbarCop report. At each crash, the error message details were the same. Can I assume that if this BEX can be fixed then this problem is fixed? BTW, this is a site I can only login with Firefox, but never with IE as it crashes every time: https://mya.godaddy.com/Default.aspx...fault.aspx&=%2 Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BEX Application Name: iexplore.exe Application Version: 8.0.6001.17184 Application Timestamp: 47ccc78e Fault Module Name: StackHash_40d4 Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000 Exception Offset: 032ce118 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Data: 00000008 OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.6 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 40d4 Additional Information 2: 4062ad41ec8067256aa4c5e2b56d3c79 Additional Information 3: 40d4 Additional Information 4: 4062ad41ec8067256aa4c5e2b56d3c79 Read our privacy statement: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?link...3&clcid=0x0409 Current ToolbarCop Browser Add-on Report generated by ToolbarCop v3.4 5/7/2008 2:58:00 PM -------------------------------------------------------------- Menu Extension: Download All by FlashGet - - D:\Program Files\FlashGet\jc_all.htm - Enabled - Current User Menu Extension: Download using FlashGet - - D:\Program Files\FlashGet\jc_link.htm - Enabled - Current User Menu Extension: SYSTRAN Lookup - - res://C:\Program Files\SYSTRAN\6\\GUIres.dll/lookup.js - Enabled - Current User Menu Extension: SYSTRAN Translate - - res://C:\Program Files\SYSTRAN\6\\GUIres.dll/translate.js - Enabled - Current User Run - Startup: WeatherAlarmClock - - D:\Program Files\Weather Alarm Clock\WeatherAlarmClock.exe - Enabled - Current User Run - Startup: WMPNSCFG - - C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\WMPNSCFG.exe - Enabled - Current User Run - Startup: ISUSPM - - "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\ISUSPM.exe" -scheduler - Enabled - Current User Run - Startup: Logitech Hardware Abstraction Layer - - KHALMNPR.EXE - Enabled - All Users Run - Startup: MAFWTaskbarApp - - C:\Windows\system32\MAFWTray.exe - Enabled - All Users Run - Startup: Kernel and Hardware Abstraction Layer - - KHALMNPR.EXE - Enabled - All Users Run - Startup: NvSvc - - RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Windows\system32\nvsvc.dll,nvsvcStart - Enabled - All Users Run - Startup: NvCplDaemon - - RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Windows\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup - Enabled - All Users Run - Startup: NvMediaCenter - - RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Windows\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit - Enabled - All Users Run - Startup: egui - - "D:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Smart Security\egui.exe" /hide /waitservice - Enabled - All Users List of running Processes -------------------------------------------------------------- C:\Windows\system32\taskeng.exe C:\Windows\system32\Dwm.exe C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE C:\Windows\System32\maFwTray.exe C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe D:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Smart Security\egui.exe D:\Program Files\Weather Alarm Clock\WeatherAlarmClock.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmpnscfg.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\ISUSPM.exe C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPoint\SetPoint.exe D:\Program Files\Audio Caller ID\acid.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Logitech\khalshared\KHALMNPR.EXE C:\Windows\system32\wbem\unsecapp.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\agent.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\ISUSPM.exe C:\Users\Jeremy\Desktop\toolbarcop\Toolbarcop.exe C:\Program Files\Wisdom-soft ScreenHunter 5 Pro\ScreenHunter.exe C:\Windows\system32\SearchFilterHost.exe Operating System details ---------------------------------------------------------- Operating System: Windows NT 6.0 Build: 6001 Service Pack level: Service Pack 1 same: Last edited by JeremyT; 05-07-2008 at 01:42 PM. |

Re: IE7...crash...IE8...CRASH!
Sorry, I should have mentioned that I had already tried that dll fix when I first saw it in your Common fixes post, and of course it didn't work.
I would uninstall IE8, but IE7 was just as bad; it crashed at my secure web hosting site every time. With all its money Microsoft is not only unable to design a browser as good a Firefox, but it downgrades Internet explorer with every so-called "upgrade." I would think just out of embarrassment they would come up with working fixes for it. |

Re: IE7...crash...IE8...CRASH!
Do you have these problems in any other browsers? Please try one of the below (both are free):
Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ Opera http://www.opera.com/ |

Re: IE7...crash...IE8...CRASH!
Thanks for the suggestions, however, I got rid of IE8 by going back to an earlier image of my system wich has IE7. I used the reg fix you posted, and now I can log into the secure sites I had problems with while using IE8. There's also no more broblem with the zoom feature as it's set to a normal view, rather than the over-size of IE8; which is not 100% as they say; IE8's so-called 100% is more like 110-120%!
Thanks very much for your help.

Re: IE7...crash...IE8...CRASH!
One very important thing I forgot to mention:
All my problems with Internet Explorer and Vista in general started after I installed SP1, and other previous so-called updates. Since my present system is PRE SP1 and it's otherwise working perfectly, I turned off all Windows updates so I can keep the system as it is, trouble free! |
