Web pages not working properly
My web pages arent scrolling properly and its also happening when i am scrolling through messages in outlook express.. Almost like a kind of wave effect? The scroll bar on the right hand side is hardly visible. Its almost like the webpage is too big for the screen. There is a tick in the box where it says smooth scrolling and its no good changing the percentage on the bottom right of the screen. I would be grateful for any help. Thanks in advance...linda

Re: Web pages not working properly
migalow,
Is this happening in ALL Windows applications or just Outlook Express? I ask because it sounds like you've enable either Accessibility features under the Control Panel or possibly some extended features of your video hardware's drivers. Have you recently installed or changed ANYTHING on your PC prior to this problem occuring? - John |

Re: Web pages not working properly
i was trying to uninstall norton but an error occured so i searched online on how to fix it. I followed instructions which advised some registry changes and i followed instructions except that i accidentally deleted a couple of entries i shouldnt have. So i took it to the computer shop and they had to repair sys config file or something. When i got the computer back it started normally which it didnt do before i took it there. I tried to connect to the internet but all my settings were gone. I went to device manager and reinstalled drivers through that because it wasnt noticing some things. Internet then connected fine and then when i scroll it gives what i call a wavey kind of look when i scroll and the same happens in my emails. I dont think its anything major but i will be ringing up the w***er that did it at the computer shop. He should have redone my internet settings and drivers, the idiot. When i reinstalled the drivers i assume something might have happened then

Re: Web pages not working properly
Well, i dont know what the hell is going on but i reinstalled norton after having taken if off the other day and rebooted the computer and now that wavy scrolling has stopped, i can now use the scroll bar properly on the right hand of the screen because before i could hardly see it....???? weird.
The only thing now is this...on the left hand side i always have my favourites list showing and the actual webpage you can see always fits nicely. but now it seems the webpage is too big and i have to use the scroll on the bottom of the screen to make it go left and right whereas before that was ok.... Re: Web pages not working properly
migalow,
Sounds like a bad sync setting (incompatible with your monitor) in the display properties. As for the screen size issue in IE, try "View", "Text Size" and decrease size. If this doesn't help, you may need to crank up the display property Resolution (although be careful because this may have been what caused the original problem). Normally 800X600 is the size that most web pages are designed to handle. - John |

Re: Web pages not working properly
Thanks for your reply. At the time that was all happening i was actually re-installing norton antivirus which i think caused the wavy look when i was scrolling up and down webpages etc....because when i had finished installing norton and rebooted everything was fine. As for the webpages seeming like they werent fitting on the screen properly, well, i remember changing the screen resolution somewhere along the line and then rebooting after norton finished and everything was fine....thanks to all for your help though. much appreciated. I always panic when something goes wrong with the computer!

Re: Web pages not working properly
migalow,
Glad to help. Yes - beware of Norton NIS or other security products. When installed and updated properly, they work well other than the fact that they bog down your PC, especially during BOOT and user login. Where you run into MAJOR problems with the Norton security products is when you attempt to uninstall, upgrade or reinstall them. Symantec actually has special REMOVAL tools on their support site to forcefully remove and clean up their products. - John |

Re: Web pages not working properly
I have found out the reason for my seemingly large web pages. It is because a lot of websites are now changing the setup of their webpages to fit on larger screens. So thats why they dont seem to "fit"
