iexplore - Application Error

Hi there.
When opening IE7 I get the "iexplore - Application Error"
"The exception Privileged instruction.
(0xc00000096) occurred in the application at location 0x593f8723.
Click Ok to terminate the program etc."
I get a similar message when opening Adobe Bridge and
My Computer. Sometimes My Computer searches for folders and files and doesn't open at all.
If the program opens I can ignore the Application Error and continue to work. However closing the warning window also terminates the program.
Any inital suggestions?

what version of ie do you have
