Delete Browsing history runs on and on...

When I click on the "delete browsing history" button in the Internet Options tab, the application runs on and on until I finally go into task manager and end the process.

I have un-installed and reinstalled IE7 twice and this did not fix it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

This is the same as GtP's post a bit more updated.

    Under Main choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser
  • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

Re: Delete Browsing history runs on and on...

thanks everyone. I did all three of these and while it did empty my deleted items folder it did not solve the problem.

Still when I click on the delete browsing history box it runs and runs until I go into task manager to shut it down. The error message at that point refers to a "hungapp" and trying to run a dll as an app.

any more ideas?

thanks

Re: Delete Browsing history runs on and on...

no luck.

every other ubutton on that tab works fine but the "delete browsing history" button just runs and runs and runs and doesn't delete anything.

I need to figure out a fix because my IT dept won't let me leave things like cc cleaner or atf cleaner on the machine and they do on occasion have to access my machine to update stuff.

Re: Delete Browsing history runs on and on...

this is getting even worse. I did the reset again and now IE hangs up as soon as my home page opens. Whatever I click on - the options tab to try to clear history, the options tab to change settings or even a new page - IE hangs up until I go into task manager to close it.

I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling but i am guessing that the new install is just picking up the same problems from the previous version.

Let me add some new information - a few weeks ago I bought a new printer, the HP J6480. It is a net work capable printer connected via ethernet to our router. Since the day I installed it, while the printer works awesome it does appear to have corrupted some things on my laptop. Microsoft Office attachments get hung up and take about 5 minutes to fully open. I have downgraded to the smallest driver/software options but it still does it. I am working with HP to try to get a fix. Not sure if it is related to this problem but thought I'd give you the info anyway.

Thanks
