IE connection problems

I have had a Toshiba laptop since last August. The operating system is Vista.

Up until yesterday the internet connection worked fine.

I now cannot connect to the internet. The Broadband provider and wireless modem are working fine (the other laptop is connecting without any problem.) The switch on the laptop to enable internet connection is turned on.

I've looked at the internet part on control panel and it says the computer is connected to the modem. I've disconnected from the modem and reconnected without problem. It just seems that something is blocking the actual web pages from opening.

Does anyone, by chance have any ideas?

thanks in advance

Re: IE connection problems

with some broadbandyou have to insall their software, have you tries it. click start then run and tpye cmd and in cmd type "ipconfig" if your ip and dns settings are displayed the internet is active. i would try turining off the firewall. go to control panel, system security and turn off firewall. shut down your antivirus.

Re: IE connection problems

i myself like firefox it is very good and no popups or activex. i used opera some how i got a virus but that shouldn't discourage you from using it.
