[SOLVED] Internet Explorer cannot open this webpage

In IE7, when I search for a subject, my response page has “sponsored” listings on the top and along the right side of the page. If I select one of these “sponsored” listings, I get “Internet explorer cannot open the webpage”. This has been happening for some time and spans several versions of IE and several browsers. (I currently use IE and Firefox) I guess some people pay good money for ad blockers, but sometimes I would like to see the “sponsored” listings. Any help would be GREATLY
appreciated...thank you

Hello and welcome to TSF

IMHO, Sponsored links are rubbish, some contain malware, soem lead you to all stupid things you didnt ask for. You will be much better off using the normal results.

Thanks very much for your reply, but I would like to see these replies on occasion. If you can suggest any way to correct this, I would be grateful

Alright no problems, please do this:

click Start => Run an copy and paste this command into the run box:

notepad %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

press OK.

a notepad file should pop up copy and paste everything in the notepad file back into this thread.

When I attempt to comply with your directions, I get the following:

"The text that you have entered is too long (695780 characters). Please shorten it to 100000 characters long"

I am sorry for the delay I have been extremly busy lately.

No problems you must have addes blocked sites to the HOST file.

Please od this:

HostsXpert

Click Here to downlaod HostsXpert

Unzip HostsXpert to it's own folder.
Run HostsXpert.exe
Click "Make Writable?" in the upper left corner.
Click "Restore MS Hosts file" and then click OK.
Close HostsXpert.

**Note: If a custom Hosts file was in place, you'll have to edit those entries back in.**
