Grin Slow Connection Speed

I am experiencing extreme slow connection speeds with Internet Explorer. In addition, pages are downloading in sections once connected. Pages with heavy images, videos, etc (like myspace, ebay) are taking even longer to connect / download and often cause my computer to lock-up. I often get 'program not responding' when attempting to close these sites. This is a new problem. I have tried disk clean-up, defragmenters, deleting temporary internet files, etc. and nothing has helped. My OS is Windows XP. I've also run a virus scan and everything checks out fine. Any suggestions on what could be causing this recent problem?

Hello and welcome to TSF

Do you have these problems in any other browsers? Please try one of the below (both are free):

Firefox
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
Opera
http://www.opera.com/

also do you have this problem running with no add-ons:

Click Start, All programs, Accessories, System tools and click on Internet Explore (No Addons)

You fail to state what type of Network Connection you use; Dialup, DSL, Cable, etc. This is critical to getting a meaningful answer.

Have you contacted your ISP tech support? They may provide more meaningful solutions.

Re: Slow Connection Speed

My network connection is an external cable modem. This a direction connection without any routers, spiltters, etc. The problem has only recently started. I've contacted the cable company and they show no problems with the connection and/or modem.
