[SOLVED] Blocking Runescape
Hi all,
My parents have decided to take my brother's computer privileges away for the year to try to improve his school grades, but the one thing they're not sure about is blocking Runescape, which he plays a lot. The way the school timetable works, my brother gets every Thursday off (supposed to be used for study, etc.) and often he's going to have the house to himself, since my parents are out working - so they can't stop him from getting on the computer (he uses my dad's computer, as it's the only one with net access). What's the best way to stop him from getting on Runescape, without limiting the usefulness of the rest of the computer, as it needs to stay on all the time for work purposes? The system is running Windows XP SP2 with IE7.

127.0.0.1 localhost In the next line... enter www.runescape.com then save, and exit and restart you're computer and tell me how this works... if it doesn't work i have another fix ![]() make sure you add the 127.0.0.1 on before runescape.com... make it exactly like the localhost line, except where it says localhost, make it www.runescape.com It works for me, I've used it before, but let me know how it works for you :) Last edited by Go The Power; 02-09-2008 at 09:44 PM. Re: Blocking Runescape
Hi Indoril Nerevar,
As said above the easyiest way to do this would be useing the HOST file. Just click Start => Run an copy and paste this command into the run box: notepad %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts press OK. You should see a screen like this: (Unless the HOST file has been modified) Quote:
Copy the below line: 127.0.0.1 www.runescape.com and paste it Underneath 127.0.0.1 localhost |
