Internet Explorer wont retain browser history and cookies
I do not know what happened, but for about a month now my browser regularly deletes my browser history (the one in the address bar) and all the cookies. It seems to happen every few hours without any pattern that could lead me to identify the trigger. I think the problem started around the same time I installed BitDefender 2008 which has since been deleted from my system (had to do a manual uninstall as the normal one would not work). Since the problem started, I went from IE 6.0 to 7.0 but this still happens.
XP with Service Pack 2. IE settings: Privacy - medium Empty Temps files when browser is closed - disabled. Scanned for viruses with NOD32 and for spywares with search & destroy. Anything else I can do other than formatting? Last edited by markom; 02-06-2008 at 03:07 PM. |

Re: Internet Explorer wont retain browser history and cookies
I am used to the reg fix working, so this is a new problem to me. I will have a search and see what I can find.
Also Do you have these problems in any other browsers? Please try one of the below (both are free): Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ Opera http://www.opera.com/ |

Re: Internet Explorer wont retain browser history and cookies
A little out of date... But here ya go. And This worked for me, with the same problem!!!
First off...Back up your Favorites...! They should remains in tact but just incase? Download the IE7 off M-soft, and save it to a known location.. Uninstall IE : Control Panel / Add & Remove prgs. / Uninstall Internet Explorer.. Now go to the {Add & Remove Windows Components} and remove IE and MSN Explorer. Reboot Go to {Windows Explorer} or My Computer and delete (ie) under Windows folder... Delete anything under c:/ programs (Internet Explorer) Note: It will not allow you to delete the folder itself (Intetnet Explorer) or some of it's components... It's ok, delete what you can!... Before you go any further do a search for Internet Explorer.. Delete all that stuff too! Note: only the folders relating to IE it's self... Think you got the idea? Now reboot into SAFE mode and delete the Internet Explorer under c:/programs... This is the only time you'll be able to delete it...Note again: The Inernet Explorer will show back up when you reboot into windows but will be empty!!! Reboot back to Windows... Now reinstall IE... The IE icon won't be there.. You'll have to create a shortcut to your desktop from c:/program/Internet Explorer... Should be good to go.. No need to reply, I probably won't check back... ![]() Later, Bug! If you don't know what your doing, you shouldn't play.. If you don't play your don't learn... Either way, I don't get paid enough for this S**T |
