IE 7 Behaves strangely ???

Relevant System information: Windows XP, Internet Explorer 7, Outlook Express 6.

1. When I use IE and close it, all is fine.
2. When I use OE and close it, all is fine.
3. When I use both and close only IE, I get this strange message:
...........................................

IEXPLORE.EXE - Application Error

The instruction at "0x05a03c70" referenced memory at "0x05a03c70". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click CANCEL to debug the program

-----
OK
-----
------------
CANCEL
------------
.............................................

Of course nothing happens when I click either option. Does anyone know what does this obscure error message means?

Re: IE 7 Behaves strangely ???

it is a strange message. Could not find anything about it from my normal sources, except where, I'm guessing, you posted it at cnet since its word for word.

repeat the process and let it give you that message again. then go to your event viewer (control panel, administrative tools, event viewer) and look at your applications and system logs and see if they show any errors for that specific crash, check the date and time.

If the logs show errors, post what they say and the event id, source and type.

See this from microsoft for more info about the event viewer.

Re: IE 7 Behaves strangely ???

Also try this

System File checker: sfc/ scanow

**Note: You will need A Windows XP CD for this exercise**
  • Please insert the Windows XP CD into your CD/DVD drive.
  • Click Start, then Run
  • Copy and paste the command below into the text box (with out the quotation marks)
    " sfc /scannow "
  • Click Ok
  • During the scan you may be asked to Insert the A Windows XP CD, if this happens just click retry and let it do its thing.

Please post back with the results.
