[SOLVED] Problems with XP and Internet explorer

I am currently experiencing a problem with Internet Explore, however I believe the issue is XP related. The problem is that Internet Explorer (IE) will not connect or display any webpages I try and visit. I get an "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message no matter where i go. Firefox still runs correctly, but I would like to get IE working again.

Things i have tried so far:
Uninstalling IE7, IE6 has the same problem.
Reinstalling IE7, no change.
Reseting IE7 to defaults.
Run the System File Checker, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run type sfc /scannow, and then press ENTER.
2. Follow the prompts throughout the System File Checker process.
3. Restart the computer when System File Checker process is complete.
Turning of my Windows firewall.
Creating an exception in the firewall.
Creating a new connection for IE7.

I'm really out of ideas on how to aproach this problem. I have a feeling it may be router or connection related but I have not been able to find anything specific that might be preventing a connection. Any suggestions on where to look or what to try would be greatly apreciated.

Nate

Re: Problems with XP and Internet explorer

same message, ie cannot connect.

I have also tried now scanning for viruses. Only problem is that the virus software cannot update because it cannot connect. This is somehow related to ie also being unable to connect.
