Re: Unable to view pictures on some sites

Hi there,
try a few basic steps first:

Verify that the Show Pictures option has not been turned off
To do this, follow these steps:1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. Click the Advanced tab, and then verify that the Show Pictures check box is selected under Multimedia.
3. Click OK.

Enable scripting, ActiveX controls, cookies, and Java programs
To do this, follow these steps: 1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. Click the Security tab, and then click Default Level (if it is available) for the zone that contains the Web page (for example, the Internet zone).
3. If you are using Internet Explorer 6, click the Privacy tab, and then click Default (if it is available).

You may also need to download the likes of adobe flash player for some other types of images, as you have done a re-install you will have lost the likes of these add-ons and you forget you have downloaded them in the past.

Flash player available here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Also you can reset your home page, type in the address in the address bar and see if the page loads correctly, go to tools/internet options/general tab and set your homepage using the options there, apply/ok any changes made.

Let me know if how it goes,

Anne

Re: Unable to view pictures on some sites

Are you able to view images on other webpages ok?

it could just be java errors on the page you are using for your home page.

What is your homepage by the way?

Try installing Java if you don't have it;

Re: Unable to view pictures on some sites

My home page is msn and I have downloaded the latest version of Java, it does seem to happen on most pages not just the home page. Got me completely baffled. Thanks again for your help on this one.

Re: Unable to view pictures on some sites

Try reregistering some dll's;

Open the run command (off start menu) and type in:

regsvr32 Urlmon.dll and hit ok, you should see a message saying successful, now re-opn IE and see how pages are displayed.

If the problem is still there, do the same run commands with the following,
(copy and paste them for an easier method, individually of course ;) )

regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 Wintrust.dll
regsvr32 Mssip32.dll
regsvr32 Initpki.dll
regsvr32 Msjava.dll
regsvr32 Gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 Sccbase.dll
regsvr32 Slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 Cryptdlg.dll
regsvr32 Dssenh.dll
regsvr32 Rsaenh.dll

Let me know how it goes ;)

Re: Unable to view pictures on some sites

Hi regdowney and Liverbird

There is a easyier way to do the above:

Click Here to download IEdll.zip. Save it to your desktop.
Right click on IEdll.zip click on Extract all.
Go to the extracted files and double click on IEdll.bat
Follow the prompts.
It will tell you when it is done.
When finished please restart your computer.

BTW go liverpool

Re: Unable to view pictures on some sites

I downloaded the file and it still did not help the problem. I too was able to view java scripted files, then suddendly I could not. My experience came from not being able to view videos on CNN's website then I found I could not view them on other sites.

Any other fixes I can do? I am running Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3.

Thank you,

joan

I am running xp service pack 3 and am experiencing the same problem with ie and firefox. Have tried everything suggested on this page and some others elsewhere and still haven't solved it so any further help would be appreciate by me as well.

Cheers

Re: Unable to view pictures on some sites

Hello all, I am having exactly the same problem, this resulted after removal of a virus and then re-installation of my operating system after I encountered an error that prevented my system from booting. Used my installation software to load but I didn't do a full restore, I created a partition so I wouldn't lose all of my personal information, photos etc. Since then I have reinstalled mozilla firefox, java, flash, realplayer, and a number of other apps that I thought could be the issue with no luck.. I have run the iedll.zip and it went though fine but when I went through by hand it said that it couldn't find the msjava.dll library.. I've done all recommend steps and am still having problems mainly with facebook.. I not only can't see photos but also can not use some links.. I can refresh the page about 12 times and then I can see the images and use the links, ONCE, and then I have to repeat the refresh process.. i'm beyond annoyed. Any more ideas????

Re: Unable to view pictures on some sites

Ha! I fixed it! It was my mcafee!! When I did my system restore there were issues with my mcafee which were resolved when I uninstalled it and used AVG! Now my internet works perfectly again!

Re: Unable to view pictures on some sites

Same problem here. Although I don't have Mcaffe to uninstall.
It's been almost two years since "regdowney" started this thread. I wonder if his/her problem had been fixed, or he/she bought a Mac.
