[SOLVED] Is my IE7 'New Tab' hijacked?
Platform as per 'My System'
(Visa Ultimate 32 bit) (I have just completed the Hijack 5 steps but not posted the logs as yet in case what I has is normal...) Problem: When first installed, opening up a new tab gave a new tab, fairly blank with words to the effect "About Tabs" or something like that. A little while ago, I noticed this had changed to the one shown below. It has a Yahoo search box and a host of Top Search results... I don't like this page and want to restore the original "You pressed a New Tab" page but I cannot find how to restore it... Question 1: Is the page as shown below a normal update or is it a browser hijack? Question 2: How do I restore the original page? I have Ad-Aware 2007, Spyware Doctor, SpywareBlaster installed. Nothing untoward is shown up... hijacked-browser1.jpg The links on the page to 'Deactivate the page' does not work. I have checked the html source code and note that it is 'powered' by VMN.net but the section is "REM'd" out Quote:

Re: [SOLVED] Is my IE7 'New Tab' hijacked?
I had not noticed a RESET button that did just that. It reset IE7 back to the state as it was when it was first installed.
Here is how to (cribbed from Microsoft): 1 Close all instances of IE 2 Open one instance of IE 3 Click TOOLS 4 Click ADVANCED TAB 5 Click RESET BUTTON Then close and reopen IE7... In my case, it saved all my faverites but deleted all browsing history, typed URLs & Cookies.... It removed the rougue 'hijacked' New Tab and restored the correct New Tab.... Whole process took less than 60 seconds.... Simple... (thought that I might have been in for the long haul and have to reinstal IE7)
