Internet

my original problem was that MSN Explorer (6) crashes upon start-up - "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered and Error and needs to close......" Now, there is an option to send error report, which I choose. There is also a "View Details," but I can't copy and paste it anywhere.

all i can get is this

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: urlmon.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2900.3231 Offset: 0003b5ce

in the Error Report, the only thing can copy and paste is this:

C:\DOCUME~1\NICK\LOCALS~1\Temp\2121_appcompat.txt

and from Help and Support Center's Error Logs, I can show you this:

Saturday, December 15, 2007 Application Error Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module urlmon.dll, version 6.0.2900.3231, fault address 0x0003b5ce.

Saturday, December 15, 2007 Application Error Fault bucket 564261486.

Actually, I can't. That's the only option not under that System Tools drop-down menu. Where else can I access this?

Re: Internet

Open IE and go to Tools => Internet Options => Advanced and uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions" (requires restart). Try opening links after you rebooted and let us know if you still have a problem.

Re: Internet

I did that, and the problem is still there. It takes about 2 or 3 times to open MSN Internet Explorer initially, and after I am already on-line, if I try to open a new window, it will occasionally do the same thing.

Re: Internet

I don't know, I didn't have the problem before this week. I would prefer not to go with IE7, but if that is the only way to fix the problem, then I will. Any other ideas?

I searched through all of the programs and updates, and couldn't find KB924615. I even did a search using that file name and as a keyword and it wasn't there either.

I never had that file on my computer, at least not that I can find. I installed IE 7, which seems to work fine. One concern that I still have is that the browser takes between 2 to 3 clicks on the Back button or arrow. It did this in IE 6, I believe after I installed my new Anti-Virus software and firewall.

Re: Internet

I have already upgraded to IE7, which is ok I guess. I still have the problem with the browser reloading slowly, and also the fact that I need to hit the Back button or use the mouse 2 or 3 times to return to the previous page. What do you think is the reason for this? The new firewall? Antivirus? Time for a new PC?

Eye half know eye deer.

Re: Internet

Try a reinstall:

Re-install Internet Explore 7
  • Please go Here (Click on the Blue link) and download a fresh version of Internet Explore 7.
  • Uninstall the version of IE you have installed now, to do so follow these steps:
  1. Click Start
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Double click Add or Remove Programs
  4. Scroll down until you find Internet Explore
  5. Then click Change/Remove, and follow the prompts.
** Please Note: If you are unable to see IE7 in Add or Remove Programs follow these steps:
  • Click Start
  • Click Run
  • Type or copy and paste, into the text box:
%windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe
  • Then Press Enter **
  • Restart your computer.
  • Install the fresh version of Internet Explore.
