Question Internet Explorer connectivity problem

I'm having an odd problem here, and I'm not too sure what to do about it.

Basically: Internet Explorer won't open any webpages at all. My internet connection however is fine. I can still get email with Outlook Express, I can happily connect to and play World Of Warcraft, The X-Box 360 will connect up and play games, etc. What's even more strange is that I can connect to the net and view pages with Firefox just fine.

At the same time this problem began I've found that I my Bittorrent programs (I've tried uTorrent and ABC) both keep crashing a few minutes after starting up.

The only thing that had recently changed on my system was that I installed Windows Media Player 11. So I uninstalled it (actually just rolled back to version 10 really) and I also uninstalled the updates to WMP11 that XP (it's service pack 2 by the way) downloaded. This didn't work.
I've also tried:
Running a full virus scan (a few things found that were deleted)
Running a full spyware scan
Running a full rootkit scan
Installing Internet Explorer 7
Uninstalling Internet explorer 7
Run the System File Checker
Tried reinstalled IE from the .inf file (when I did this it kept telling me that it couldn't copy the necessary file from the XP cd. So I copied the files to the hard drive and it said that it still couldn't copy them. Don't know what to make of that).

Any suggestions? At the moment I'm thinking of just reinstalling XP, but that's a lot of trouble :(

Re: Internet Explorer connectivity problem

try changing everything back to default - tools - internet options - advanced

also try starting msie without addons - its in your start.

Re: Internet Explorer connectivity problem

Tried both of them, didn't work. Anything else that might work?

I too had already tried sobeit666 suggestions with same results. Running WindowsWP-Home. Its as if IE is not recognizing the cable connection. What about using disk to RESTORE?
