First Post!
My problem is I have three PC's on a network using a Linksys Cable Router. Two out the three can connect to the internet. But one won't. I did a hard reset on the router no luck. The router shows that the PC is online and the adapter card light on the PC is on! But no connection. The PC is using XP Pro. Tried to do a restore would not allow it! Is this a Windows issue???? Thinking of reformatting the drive and reinstalling XP Pro. |

Do you have service pack 2 on the xp machine? If so, disable the firewall (or norton firewall, etc).
Click Start --> Run --> cmd type ipconfig /all What Ip address is being reported. It should match your other 2 computers. Like 192.168.0.x No two computers will have the same number. If you type ipconfig /release does it release it? If it is a static IP, you will have to go to the properties of the lan connection. TCP/IP settings and change it to automatically obtain an ip address.

Try the Microsoft procedure to Reset TCP/IP Stack for XP.
