internet speed

can someone help please my speed of internet connection has slowed right down like when i open a browser it takes about 40 sec to open and it is a broadband connetion i rang provider and they say everthing is allright on there end i must have a virus i have tryied scaning with nod32 and now trying norton but both picked up nothing tryed trojan scan and nothing can someone please please surgest something.

Hey Cossie,

The time your browser takes to load up (open up for the first time) isn't directly related to the speed of your internet (at least as far as I know). Have a look at your processor usage to determine if something if consuming all the CPU and if that is the case, post back with the name of the process.

If that is not the case, try a different browser to see if the problem persists. If it does that more then likely the cause it a virus. We'll get to that later.
