Running Win 98 with current norton antivirus and aol spyware protection.
AOL 9.0 installed as default internet program. Had a major Spyware/Adware infestation but both norton antivirus and aol spyware protection appeared to sort the problem. Since then, straight after booting up my PC (and intermittently while I am using the PC), an error box appears stating that "A connection to the internet is not available" (or something to that effect), and gives me two options 1."work offline" and 2."Try again". Is there a way I can find out what program is trying to connect to the internet? Could it still be spy/adware? Both Norton Antivirus and AOL have been updated regularly since installation. Please help!!! Tom, Lancs UK

Hi ,welcome to TSF
Please do the following and we will take a look for you. Go into Windows Explorer, click on C:\ > File > New Folder and call it HJK, or another name of your choice. Go to this site and download Hijack This. Install the program into the folder you created then run it. Click Scan. Save the log file to Notepad, then copy and post it in the Security Anti-virus HiJackThis Forum. Make sure to include the System information at the top of the log as well.
