[SOLVED] Web Page Immediately Closes IE7.

Internet Explorer 7.

There is a particular page of just one website that brings up the following message the second it has loaded: 'Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.'

It's a multiple choice bullet page for placing an order at the pizzahut.co.uk site!!

I can logon just fine, but as soon as I navigate to the problem page the error is thrown up. It bugs me enough to tell you about it here!

Can anyone suggest a remedy for this? I just want to be able to order a pizza without the damn error!

Very curious that it only happens with this page and on this site only.

Not the most serious problem in the world I admit, but any help appreciated of course.

Thanks.

Re: Web Page Immediately Closes IE7.

Hi and thanks.

I only use IE.

Can I run 2 browsers without conflict?

I'd rather fix this problem than install a second browser. However, if a fix can't be found and an additional browser isn't going to cause problems, I'll download it.

Re: Web Page Immediately Closes IE7.

Hello again

You can run two browsers without a problem.

What I am trying to get is if it works fine in another browser it means it is a problem with IE, but if it doesn't work in another browser the problem is somewhere else on the computer. I am trying to narrow it down.

Re: Web Page Immediately Closes IE7.

Yes, I understand.

I used to have a problem where IE would also close if I selected a previously visited website from down arrow.

It may be worth mentioning that I sometimes get the same error window when using DVD software - possibly hinting that this could be a PC problem.

However, good advice - I'll try a new browser and report back.

Thanks for your help - I appreciate it.

Re: Web Page Immediately Closes IE7.

Well, thank you Go The Power.

I installed Mozilla Firefox and no error on that page as a result. What's more, Firefox is only 5.5MB, very easy to install and has a similar interface to IE.

I'm left with an IE problem, but at least this move has proved there's a glitch with IE and it now means I can use that site of course.

That initial process of elimination certainly worked then. Any ideas what to do now with IE? My skill levels? Not great! Guess I could just not use it!

Pleased I joined this forum.

Thanks again.

I was able to get beyond the problem page with add-ons disabled.

I tried with add-ons enabled and got the error.

Hello again,

Yes you did it right. Good job.

You have a parasite called MyWay installed.

Uninstall Programs

Click Start => Control Panel => Double click on Add or Remove Programs and uninstall the following programs (if they exist):

MyWay

If you see anything else that you dont recognize please post back here with the name.

Also what Antivirus and Firewall do you have> I can see you used to have McAfee and Norton. Do you have either installed anymore?

Re: Web Page Immediately Closes IE7.

MyWay not present in Add or Remove Programs.

No other rogue programs present.

I am using Norton 360 and Windows Firewall. Norton 360 did not pick up on MyWay when I scanned.

Thank you for your continuing efforts.

Sorry I didnt want it to be rude or saying that you aren't smart. I post it when ever I ask for an attachment. Most the time it is easyier and can save the user alot of trouble if they have never done it before.

Lets disable some add-ons

Disable a add on Internet Explore 7
  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • Click the Tools button, click Manage Add-ons, and then click Disable Add-ons.
  • Click the add-on you want to disable, click Disable, and then click OK.

The ones I want you to disable are:
My &Search Bar

Please download McAfee Removal Tool and save it do your desktop. Double click to install it. Follow the prompts. When finished installing, run the program and follow the prompts. You will need to restart your computer at the end of the installation.

Absolutely no need to apologize. You can't know of my skill level or experience from where you are. I entirely understand how describing every action is the easiest way since it saves the user constantly saying: "I don't know how to do that. Can you show me please?"

I'm certainly not great with computers - hence I've joined this forum. I publish a basic website but as for the inner workings of a PC - forget it! I need you!

OK, I've performed those actions.

In case you were going to ask in your next post, I revisited the problem page and the error is still happening.

Again, thank you for your continued support.

We could Nuke all add-ons, that should fix the problem, if you are willing to do that here are the steps:

Open IE, on the menu bar click Tools => Internet Options, click on the tab Advanced, then click Reset

Re: Web Page Immediately Closes IE7.

Will selecting Reset cause any side effects because we're only talking about one page of one website?

I can now navigate that site in IE with add-ons disabled. Failing that, I can use Firefox browser.

If Resetting is going to fix one problem only to cause another I don't see the point.

Re: Web Page Immediately Closes IE7.

Decided not to reset.

I realize I don't have to take complete notice of the warning about resetting, but as I say, it's just one problem page out of billions of error free pages. I've got two other ways around the problem anyway. Also, the designer may change the code at some point if he learns his site is proving problematic to a few IE users.

Appreciate your help.
