IE7 Installation Failure & Subsequent IE6 Error Messages

Hi,

I write this still traumatized by a battle with viruses which was finally resolved yesterday. (Closed Hijack This Forum Post here: http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...galgar-dy.html)

After doing a Repair Install, I installed Windows Updates, (successfully after MANY failed attempts), and tried to install IE7. Installation failed multiple times.

Now, IE6 gives me this message:

"Windows cannot find '(null)'. Make sure you typed the name correctly then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."

I can open pages from sites and links INSIDE the browser window, (below the address bar, etc), but any clicking on buttons from the tool and navigation bars give me the pop-up with this error message, and another blank IE6 window.

thanks in advance for looking at my issue!

Hello

Try and download it from one of these three links then install it.

Re: IE7 Installation Failure & Subsequent IE6 Error Messages

Thanks, but I've already tried to download it from each of those links. Multiple times. To no avail. The download completes, and then at the end it says it falied to complete the installation. It asks me to restart the computer and open the internet explorer troubleshooting page. Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Re: IE7 Installation Failure & Subsequent IE6 Error Messages

I should also note that I've tried the various troubleshooting methods mentioned on said link, (installing with the "malicious software removal" link clicked, and also unclicked). Same results either way. I've tried downloading with all of my anti-spyware, firewalls, and anti-virus disabled, and I've tried uninstalling ie6 first. Same results each way.
