Unable to install JAVA runtime

Hi,

I have tried endless # of times but whenever i try to download/install Java, the installation thing starts and then almost within 20 seconds I get a dialog box with the following text:

This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

Can you please help me out on this.

Hello,

Please go Here and download Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 3 (the fourth one down), and click Download.

Click Accept the page should now refresh, if it doesn't click, Continue

Now choose Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.

**Please Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser**

Click Start => Control Panel => Add or remove programs, Uninstall (if on the list) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.

Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u3-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.
