[SOLVED] Google.com does not work!

Hello,

I'm not sure when the problem started to occur but I have noticed that www.google.com doesn't load up in either IE or Firefox. My start-up page is google.ca and that works just fine. But the problem is when I try Google.com it gives me a time-out error! As a result I can't even use Gmail.com. My internet works perfectly fine in every other aspect except this. I have even tried connecting to other networks and even my school network and the problem still exists. This means it has to do something with my computer settings. I would appreciate any help! Thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome to TSF

Click Start => Run type in cmd click OK.

When Command prompt opens up type in Ping www.google.com press Enter. Copy and paste the results back into this thread.

Also:
Check the HOST file

Click Start
Click My Computer
Double click C: Drive
Double click Windows
Double click System32
Double click Drivers
Double click Etc.
There should now be a file called HOST, right click on it and click on Open or Open with...
Scroll down the list then double click on Notepad.
When the HOST file is open, look underneath:

127.0.0.1 localhost

If there is anything underneath that line above please post in your next reply.

Here is my ping to www.google.com

Pinging www.google.com [1.1.1.1] with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 1.1.1.1:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% Loss)

I also checked the host file and it has this at the bottom:

127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

I deleted the ::1 part and tried google.com and it still didn't work. I put it back after that.

PROBLEM FIXED :D

There were two files: hosts.txt and just a random file called "hosts" with no extension. I opened that other file with notepad and it showed:

1.1.1.1 www.google.com

I took the file out of the folder and now IT WORKS!
