Outlook Express fails to delete messages

I'm using WindowsXP home ed. with SP2 and Outlook Express 6. I have IE7 installed. When I highlight a message in the inbox and click the delete button on the toolbar the message remains in the inbox. The delete button is not muted. When I click Edit and then delete the message moves to the delete folder. Is there some way to fix the delete button on the toolbar?

Re: Outlook Express fails to delete messages

Try removing the delete button. View>Layout>Customize Toolbar button. Click on it in the right pane and then click Remove. Close everything (including OE) and then Reopen OE and Reinstall the button by clicking it in the left pane of the Customize Toolbar window and clicking Add. That sometimes works with buttons that don't function, but I have no idea why.
