Internet page flashes up and then goes to a download page! Help
Hi everyone,
I am using an older IBM laptop with windows 98. This is my car tuning laptop so I dont really care to update it at all. I do need internet access on it though. This laptop is basically bare with software since it was restored to its original state... Today I started it up and successfully got on the internet for a while then left and when I came back, I tried to get on the internet but it is now acting crazy. When I click to go to IE, it flashes the web page and I can see it say web site found waiting for reply and all that jazz. But right when it says that, I get a page that pops up as a file download to either open or save to my computer. I cannot even access the page to go to internet options and change the homepage or anything. I have done a full virus scan along with a spyware/adware scan and no viruses and like 18 objects in the spyware... Still doesnt work. I am hooked up through cable modem to a belkin wireless router then hardwiring this laptop throught the wireless router ports. Any help would be awesome, it is just baffling me since it worked about an hour before the problem. Thanks, Zach |

Re: Internet page flashes up and then goes to a download page! Help
G'Day Zach, Welcome to TSF!
![]() There is a possibility that your computer has been infected with sinister malware. Having said that, I recommend that you go here; read and follow the instructions very carefully; then, post all the requested logs and information; as instructed, to here. (Click on the coloured links.) Please create a new thread in the HiJackThis Log Help Forum and not back in this one.. When you are carrying out The 5 Steps, if you cannot complete any of them for whatever reason, just make mention of the fact in your post to The HJT Help Forum; an Analyst will assist you with other workarounds. Once done, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are usually very busy; one of them will answer your request as soon as they can. Good Luck with it. Kind Regards,
