This is only a minor annoyance which is the only reason I've waited two weeks to ask about it.
I use IE6, and for about two weeks, every time I click on the History tab, something tries to force install the Google toolbar. I've set up TeaTimer to automatically block it but still give me a notice when it tries, and whatever is in the history tab tries once when I open it and a second time when I close it. It also happens when I open/close the Favorites tab too, so it's something in the toolbar itself, I think. Virus scanning (AVG kept updated) and spyware scanning (Spybot recently updated) have both turned up nothing. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer me. |

Re: Parasite gnawing on IE6?
G'Day NKfloofiepoof,
There is a strong possibility that you have been infected with malware. That said, don't panic ...I recommend that you go here; read and follow the instructions very carefully; then, post all the requested logs and information; as instructed, to here. (Click on the coloured links.)Please create a new thread in the HiJackThis Log Help Forum and not back in this one.. When you are carrying out The 5 Steps, if you cannot complete any of them for whatever reason, just make mention of the fact in your post to The HJT Help Forum; an Analyst will assist you with other workarounds. Once done, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are usually very busy; one of them will answer your request as soon as they can. Good Luck with it. Kind Regards,
