problems logging in

Hi,

Can anybody help me!! I'm having problems logging in on websites. For example i cannot log into hotmail anymore. I can open hotmail.com but when i try to log in nothing happens. This occurs on every site that i need to put an user name and password into. I've tried changing things in my internet properties but to no avail. This started occuring after i reinstalled my internet.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Re: problems logging in

Hello and welcome to TSF

Open up Internet explore, click Tools, Internet Options, click on the tab Privacy and set it to Medium.

What security programs do you have installed?

What version of IE is it?

Re: problems logging in

Thanks for the quick reply!!

I've already changed the privacy to medium and it hasn't worked. I think i'm using version 6.0 (i'm not sure as i'm at work at the mo).

Also i use Mcaffee security. Do you think if i turn that off it'd make a difference?

Re: problems logging in

The primary reason why users experience problems while attempting to login is caused by the Security/Cookie settings on your browser. Also try using a different computer to login. If the problem persists, i suggest that you download a free browser called “Mozilla Firefox”.

This is how you enable cookies on IE
Internet Explorer 6.0 users
Internet Explorer version 6.0 has several options available for handling cookies. This new version is privacy driven, and thus you may encounter some conflicts when trying to use cookies with this version's default Security and Privacy settings. To make sure you have cookies enabled, double check your browser settings:

1. In the menu bar at the of your browser click on Tools , then on Internet Options
2. Click on the Security tab
3. Set the security level to 'Medium' to allow cookies
4. Then click on the Privacy tab
5. Set the privacy level to 'Accept All Cookies' (drag the button right to the bottom)
6. Next, while still on the Privacy tab click on the Advanced button
7. Then click the box that indicates 'Override automatic cookie handling'
8. Make sure the following boxes are checked: Accept First-party Cookies , Prompt Third-party Cookies and Always allow session cookies
9. Click on the the General tab
10. Click on 'Delete Cookies' then 'Delete Files'
11. Click on 'Settings' and select the 'Every visit to the page' option
12. Click on OK to exit
