How to stop "Web Content Filter"?!
My laptop has suddenly stopped access to sites of a sexual nature. Far from being a pornography addict, I am a sex therapist and require access to these sites for patient insights.
When accessing these sites, before the page can load it comes up as 'Access Denied' and the following message: The requested Web page is categorized as "sex" and has been blocked by Web Content Filter. Please contact your system administrator for further information. This has never happened before and it is my home computer. I found turning off my firewall stopped the problem but now even this is not sufficient. I cannot find this 'web content filter' on my laptop. Is it a Windows program or a trojan/virus? The contents tool on internet options makes no difference. I really do not know what to do. Please help. Many thanks, CG |

Re: How to stop "Web Content Filter"?!
Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Content tab, click the Enable button and check the settings to see what kind of content is being blocked (language, nudity, sex, violence). Or is this what you've already tried?
Also, go to Start > Run > msconfig > Startup tab and Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs to see if there are any Content Filter programs installed, such as Net Filter or DeriveIt's Web Content Filter.

Re: How to stop "Web Content Filter"?!
I still cant resolve this. The content option in Tools does nothing, and there doesnt seem to be anything in my Add/Remove programs that looks suspicious. I tried using Modzilla instead but no luck.
I still dont know what Web Content Filter is, and dont know if it is a firewall or a program. PLEASE HELP!!

Re: How to stop "Web Content Filter"?!
I don't have a securiy program, its the standard Microsoft XP one. When I turned the firewall off, the problem orginally stopped, but now it makes no difference. I wondered whether it might have something to do to with an automatic Windows XP update?
