How can I put a 'System Restore' link on my desktop?
Thanks

My System

Re: System Restore

Hi Walt,

You sure can!

Navigate to 'System Restore' through the "All Programs" menu; then, Right click on the entry and go "Send to"...it gives you the option "..to Desktop (create shortcut).

Hey Presto..you have 'System Restore' on your Desktop as a shortcut!

Post back with how you fared.

Kind Regards,

When I go Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools....there is no 'System Restore' link listed. I have to go Start>Control Panel>Perfomance & Maintainence>System Restore to access my 'System Restore' page and using this route the 'right' click does not produce a 'Send' menu. Interesting..........

My System

Re: System Restore

Hi Walt,

Hmmm this is indeed interesting.

However, there are more than two ways to 'skin a rabbit' as they say, so let's see if this works....

Go Start > Run in the box type this C:\WINDOWS\System32\Restore - in this folder there should be a shortcut rstrui.exe.
This one will (well it does on my machine ) allow you to Right Click and send a shortcut to the Desktop.

(You can also "Pin to Start Menu" using this method as well. This way when you Go Start, it will be listed on the Left Hand side of the Panel when it is opened.)

Once you have got the rstrui.exe shortcut on the Desktop, Right click on it > Rename > rename it to say System Restore (obviously), and it will take you directly to the System Restore Panel.

(If you elect to put it on the Start Menu as well, or as an alternative, the name can also be changed by using this method too.)

Please give this a try and let us know how is works.

Kind Regards,
