Show Pictures [Resolved]
Hello,
I'm having this issue with IE. It starts when I sometimes restart my pc, I can't view images on IE. I go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab > Multimedia section and notice that the "Show Pictures" box is unchecked. So I check the box and all is fine. Then on some random restart of my pc, I'll start IE, and BAM! no pictures, so I go back to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab > Multimedia section and the "Show Pictures" box is unchecked again. I have run many virus and ad-aware scans, and initially found some low threat viruses and deleted them without any problems. I have also searched the registry. I have done many Google searches, and have also searched Microsofts KB and found no answers. AOL is installed on this pc, and I have a suspicion that AOL has something to do with it, but I have searched their support and have done everything they've suggested without any luck. I hope someone can help, Thanks in advance. Internet Explorer 7 Windows XP Pro Last edited by carsey; 05-26-2007 at 10:13 AM. |

Re: Show Pictures
Just thought I would post the fix just in case someone else was having this same issue.
Turns out it was malware, and it wasn't on random reboots. The malware recognized the date change. Every time the computer was started or restarted on a new day, it would set: "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Display Inline Images" string value to "no". The only program that found it was Spybot Search & Destroy. |

Re: Show Pictures
Is this problem all solved now??
Other users please beware: Editing the registry may cause unbootable effects to happen which may destroy your system. If you are going to edit the registry, always backup and seek professional advice. |
