Internet Explorer Cannot display the webpage

Hello All, I'm a newbie here and I see from looking that you guys offer some great help.

I am in a bit of a bother. My Desktop PC at home has recently stopped displaying any Internet exploer pages (for the last week) and all I get displayed is the message "Internet Explorer Cannot display the webpage", however both Outlook Express works fine and I can send an receive email, and also MSN Messenger also works.

I use IE7 and running the network diagnostics from there seems ok,
(results of the one I just ran below) and doing a IPconfig /All is also ok (see further below) and I've tried suggessions on other post so I have no idea what might be causing it ?? I am using Zone Alarm 7 anti virus and fire wall and I've tried shutting this down as well in case this was blocking internet access but still to no avail ?

I cannot even get to my router page http:/192.168.2.1 !!!!!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Many Thanks

Amit

Re: Internet Explorer Cannot display the webpage

Try removing internet explorer & installing it again, go to ad or remove in control pannel, then click on Ad or remove windows components, you mite need your windows disk to load it back on again though.

Also, have you tryed clicking reset on your router or turning it off?
And have you ran a Virus & Spywear test?

Re: Internet Explorer Cannot display the webpage

Thanks, I had tried everything : re-started router, flushing dns, etc but the fact the email and IM were wokring fine seemed odd ? I thherefore put down to either a Firewall issue (Zone Alarm) or a Windows Update. Fortunately I had backed up my "System State" from April which I restored and hey presto, everything was fine again. I ran the updates on Zone Alarm and rebooted and so far so good. I then ran the windows updates (the most recent ones in May 2007) and low and behold, the problem came back again.

I've now restored by system again got everything working and have turned off windows updates (for the time being). I've done a few firewall test and my machine currently appears to be ok and invisible to anyone (touch wood) so I'm going to call it a day and wait a few weeks and try again with any new updates which have appeared.

Thanks for your help.
