RESOLVED: internet history problem

I deleted my history and the cookies and all the offline files. when i open up IE, everything is cleaned up and cleared. however, once i start typing on the address bar, an old address comes up

for example, after i clear everything out, and go to type "f" in the address bar, it will come up with facebook.com, even though i deleted the histories? how do i fix this?

Hi believe, welcome to TSF..

please try the following:

- Click Start -> Run -> type:
regedit
- Click OK
- Navigate to and highlight the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
- Do you see the web addresses in the right hand window? If yes, delete as required or delete the key to remove all the entries

hey thanks for the reply. i think that did the trick. any idea how this happened in the first place? what would make IE leave remnants even after deleting cookies, history and temp files?

The typed urls can also be Windows Explorer locations which is why they remain after clearing out your temp cache. I find it easier to delete them with the use of a registry file upon each reboot.
