Hi, this may be a stupid question but here it is
I went to microsoft site to download updates because i have a malware/trojan problem that is beginning to get out of hand, and when adaware removes them they come right back. Anyway, I just thought about updating IE because i cant remember the last time i did. This is the question---how do i know what updates i have already had? and do i need to do the updates in order of the released date? Thanks, I am at my wits end. Live in the middle of nowhere with a very slow connection 9-14 bps and do not want to waste time downloading something I already have. I know i need to do this b4 i go any farther in trying to rid theses pests from my computer.

When you go to the windows update site,
You can click the installation history. It will list what you have already downloaded and installed. Click tools, windows update to get there. If it lists it in the critical section, then you need to re-download and re-install to have it patched correctly.
