RESOLVED: IE7 does not connect

It seems similar to IE6 won't connect -Firefox connect
in the fact that IE7 cant connect, but Firefox works perfectly fine. It started a few days ago; If i try to open IE from my desktop or start menu, it will open, try to act normally but say "Page cannot be displayed". IE is my default browser, and when i click on a link from a messenger, furcadia and etc, IE will open and work completely fine.

Ok...few questions and suggestion for you:

What firewall are you using? Have you tried temporarily disabling the firewall to see if that solves the problem?

What type of internet connection do you have and how to you connect to the internet? (cable/dial-up/adsl - cable box/56k modem/adsl modem or router etc) . If you have a router, please try rebooting it through its software interface.

When you're connected, please try the following:

- Click Start -> Run -> type:
cmd
- Click OK
- At the flashing cursor type:
ipconfig /all
- Please post the results

Another thing to try is:

- Click Start -> Run -> type:
cmd
- Click OK
- At the flashing cursor type:
ping www.techsupportforum.com
- Hit enter
- Please post the results of this too.

Also, when attempting to load a page, does refreshing a few times result in the page loading correctly?

Other things to try:

- Right click the IE desktop applet and select 'Start without add-ons' - this will show if a third party add-on is causing the problems.

- Reset your IE settings in Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Advanced -> Reset (please bear in mind that this will reset saved passwords, trusted zones sites etc so use this one as a last resort).

Hope that helps..please keep us posted
