Hello,
For the past month i've been having a problem with IE6 on my laptop. It absolutely refuses to connect. With Firefox everything is OK. I've tried everything i could think of with no success. I ran Microsoft Malicious software removal tool and found nothing. I ran four antispyware programs with the same result. I ran my antivirus program and again nothing. I removed IE6 and then re-installed it and again no change. I removed IE6 again and installed IE7 and again the same thing. I removed IE7 and re-installed IE6 and ran Fix Winsock which did nothing. I ran the system file checker and there too, nothing was found. On the internet options connections tab , the setting for connection is automatically detect settings. I checked with my desktop machine and i have the same settings and i'm having no problem with IE6 on that machine. I did a repair install of XP and installed SP2 and all the Autopatcher versions that were there before. Again , that did nothing. I also tried with caution a couple of registry fixing programs and again no change. I ran HijackThis , and include the log result for it. I'm running out of ideas to fix this problem. Why do i need IE6 if Firefox is working you may ask? It seems that you can connect your XBox 360 with your computer and play media from it. You have to use the software for Microsoft Zune player to do it. During the install of the program , it wants to check for updates and like IE6 it cannot connect , so the install stops. That's how i found out that IE6 wasn't working. So i hope somebody out there can help with this problem. Thanks. Hi kalisto01, does the same happen when you temporarily disable your firewall?
