IE7 Freeze

I've recently installed IE7 to the family computer but it's had the adverse effect of freezing when opening, and it takes a three-fingered salute to close it down. Funnily enough it only does it on some user areas. I've tried re-installing it on their areas specifically to no avail. I've had to download and install Opera to allow them to access the internet.

Any ideas what happened?

Oh, and what's are add-ons all about?

Hi Zeokage, it could be add-on related which means that a third party add-on could be causing the problems with IE7. On the desktop, try right-clicking the IE icon and selecting to start without add-ons to see if the same happens.

If all is ok, it may be an idea to disable the add-ons one by one until you find the culprit.

I haven't even put any add-ons onto IE as I have no idea what they are. I'll give it a go though.

Hi sthomas20..welcome to TSF,

delete that IE icon on your Desktop please. Then right click an empty part of the Desktop and click 'Properties' then the 'Desktop' tab then the 'Customize Desktop' button. Place a check in Internet Explorer under 'Desktop Icons' then click OK then OK again. Now you will have the proper IE applet icon on your Desktop and right clicking it will bring the option to 'start without add-ons'.
