How to stop Windows Media Player 11 from Automatically Opening in IE7
This has been bothering me for quite a while, but the best way to solve any situation is with patience. My basic problem is that i don't like how when i choose to download a video or music file from a website, it automatically opens windows media player. I'd like to get the prompt to open or save the file, in which case i'd choose to save the file. So i've been digging through IE menus for this and nothing seems to work. Is there a way to make IE save everyfile and never open windows media player?
Many Thanks, Duv |

Hello and Welcome to TSF
Does this also happen when you right click and select "Save Target As"? Try setting IE7 settings back to default # In Internet Explorer 7, go to Tools > Internet Options. Click the Advanced tab. (If your IE7 browser won't even open without crashing, you can also right-click on your IE7 desktop icon and select Properties and then click the Advanced tab.) # Click the Reset... button near the bottom. A window will appear explaining to you what restoring your settings will do to your browser. For example, your favorite bookmarks will not be erased. Your add-ons will be disable and your temporary internet files and cookies will get erased. Most users will not notice these items are gone or can easily re-enable them later. So if your browser is unstable, we recommend that you reset your browser settings. # Click Reset. # You will be prompted to close and reopen your browser. http://www.wellesley.edu/Computing/I.../ie7guide.html
