I installed IE7 as part of a MS upgrade package a month or so ago. Soon after, I had problems connecting to the Internet. I would not lose connection during a session, but if I came back after a few hours and tried to log onto the Web, it would not connect. I would have to re-start my computer before I would be able to connect. If I tried again a few hours later, the same problem would appear.
I uninstalled IE7 and re-installed IE6. After going back to the older version, I had no connection issues. A few days ago, I installed the MS upgrade to correct the Daylight Savings Time issue, and, of course, IE7 was re-installed. Same problem - unable to connect to the Internet after a prolonged period of inactivity. I have discovered another correction method besides re-starting the computer - I can log off and switch users, and I'm then able to connect to the Internet. I'd like to be able to use IE7, but this connection issue is really a pain. My set-up: Windows XP Home Edition Firewall - Zone Alarm Internet Connection - cable modem Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Hello and Welcome to TSF
Check your firewall settings and security program settings for anything that might lock down the IE after prolonged period of inactivity.
