Search Function

Hi, i do not know if this is the right forum (if it's not i'm sorry) but my cousin is having problem, when using the search function on any web pages, i.e. google, yahoo. etc.
Also on other sites were you are required to type in username and password, you are not allowed, from what i heard the cursor in the text (Search) box does not appear.

Their system is a windows xp with IE6 (i think??).

Any ideas on how this can be resolved, or would i have to re-install IE again.

Please ignore the above state, i've decided to re-install windows on my cousin PC, seeing as the system restore function was not function as no calendar was beeing display just got a blank page, also notice even in windows inbuilt help book, in the search bok, nothing could be typed in. So it has been decided to make a clean installation on their system.
