tabbing in IE7 not automatic like in Firefox
Noticed that new tabs come up automatically in Firefox, but in IE7 it's necessary to manually click on new tab. Is there a setting to make them come up automatically in IE7?

Do you mean when you click on a link ?
If so then yes, I don't have it loaded ATM but go into the options and have a look, there are 2 parts about opening tabs\windows\links just set the one that set to new window to new tab, hopefully thats what you want. |

Hold down CTRL when you click on a link and it will open a new tab automatically, otherwise it opens a new window.

Then you must have something like AdWatch running. I've just tried it with and without AdWatch. With AdWatch loaded CTRL + fav opens in the current tab. Without AdWatch it opens in a new tab.

In that case I'm stumped. All I can suggest is that you check your internet settings in tools again. This is what mine looks like.
