Outlook express internet setting

Hello,

In our office we have a LAN. All internet traffic passes through a server. Also the LAN traffic passes through it.In all client's network settings, server IP adress was defined as the gateway. But now we don't want to use the server for LAN traffic because of server load and slow network problems. We want to make LAN independent from server. So we canceled the gateway adress in LAN settings in clients. But now , Outlook Express couldn't find the mail server, although the Internet Explorer connected to Internet. What can be the problem? Should we change a setting from somewhere?

Confused

I'm assuming that you want to change the Mail server? or is it a problem because of the proxy server?

PLease post more information, then I can help you.

Thanks,
George

Hello George

First thanks for your interest. We don't use an internal mail server in the office. We don't change the mail server also. But the problem occurs only when we cancel the gateway IP adress in LAN settings of XP. When we cancel the gateway adress we can see the network partners, nevigate in internet, but outlook express couldn't find the mail server(message:"mail.efes.net.tr couldn't be found"). There is no problem if we don't change it. But we don't want the LAN traffic always passes through the server. Namely we want our LAN independent from server. Because of this reason we want to cancel the gateway in LAN settings.

Another problem we live here is in an internet access permitted client computer, some internet programs(Like Imesh) couldn't be online. It couldn't connect their network. I think this problem is directly related with "ISA server" in our server. Because all internet traffic passes through it. What can we do to solve this?

I hope you can help us.
