Question Aol against comcast cable

Ok, I have had so many problems with my computer after I switched to cable. Mainly because of junk downloaded via spy ware, ad ware ,a Trojan virus…….. all that pesky stuff.
Now I believe I have gotten that all fixed. Or at least I hope so.

I have been having a problem with some of my software that needs Internet access automatically opening the aol sign on screen and wanting to go through aol to get access. Even though I am already online through cable. I am not ready to delete entirely aol from my computer, Mainly because of saved e mail. Is there a way to set my cable assess as my default connection and that I only use aol when I need to.( It came in real handy when explorer kept shutting down on me and the only way to get on to this forum was through aol’s dial-up.
Thanks
Kristin

I'd archive the saved email and get rid of AOL, you'll be much happier. As far as the other infections, a good firewall will be a huge help.

thanks,

Thanks, I have gotten all the other stuff taken care of and have fire wall and I am guessing everything needed to stay as safe as it is possible.
Still would like to know how to get software to recognize cable connection and not aol.
