Internet Explorer 7 problem

When I use IE7, IE6, Firefox 2.0, or Netscape 8.1, all of them work, however they are unbearably slow... like dial-up speed. However, We have an old version of Netscape 7.1, and that works at the normal download rate of our ISP. Also, my Windows Messenger Beta is also really really slow. They still work, but it's comparable to dial-up speeds. I have reinstalled IE7 twice now, with no luck on changing the speed. So, right now I'm using an old version of Netscape 7.1 to surf the web... but without plug-ins. I thought plug-ins might be the problem... but like I said I reinstalled IE7 and ran it without add-ons... still no luck. I scanned my computer with Windows Defender, Ad-Aware SE Personal, and Norton Anti-Virus 2006, and it turned up nothing. Netscape 7.1 works, but IE7, IE6, Firefox 2.0, and Netscape 8.1 do not! There's some setting Netscape 7.1 has that allows it to access but the newer internet browsers are not working. I might add that I can browse the internet at normal speeds wirelessly on my PSP if that makes a difference. The computers on my network ping fine, and everything seems to run at normal internet speeds except the internet browsers I have mentioned. Please help!

Go to Control Panel / Network / TCP/IP / Dialup adapater / WINS Configuration and be sure there is a check in "disable WINS resolution"

Be sure there is only one Dial-up Adapater in the Network Control Panel. Multiple TCP/IP components can sometimes cause problems (e.g. AOL Adapter).

Your video drivers may need to be updated. A temporary fix is as follows:

* Use the default mouse pointers.
* Turn off your desktop wallpaper, screen saver and animated cursors.
* Turn down your color depth. Right click the desktop and choose Properties | Appearance | Settings.
* Turn down your graphics hardware acceleration. Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | System | Performance | Graphics button.

Internet Explorer updates may be required:

* Scripting Engine: Scripting Engine (MS)
* Java VM: Virtual Machine (MS) Test your Java Virtual Machine
* DirectX: http://www.microsoft.com/directx

Click Start>Run and type "dxdiag" and press enter to get see the version of DirectX that is installed on your system

# You may have corrupt files psbase.dll and imagehlp.dll files used by Outlook Express/Internet Explorer. Try repairing these files by going to Add/Remove Programs, select Microsoft Internet Explorer and run the repair utility.
