Java script/flash problems

Hi

Recently, I've been having problems viewing loads of things on the internet. It's always the same-ish error that comes up. This ones from youtube, I can't view any videos all of a sudden: "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Get the latest flash player. "

I went to my internet settings and made sure javascript was on. As for the damn adobe flash update, that never works. It always pops up as an annoying active x bar, i click it and nothing happens. I've been to the official site for it and the same thing happens. I have tried to install it so many times.
When something does come up for the flash, its like an installation thing but instead of saying "Adobe flash player 9 update" or something it just says "adobe flash player".

What do I do? I can't view things on the internet.

Thank you
Y. M.

My System

Check your security software and firewall to see if scripting is being blocked.

I get the same error messages for YouTube and Adobe in Firefox with the NoScript extension turned on (this blocks javascript). When I set it to allow scripts, the page loads as normal with no errors.

Hi

All of the three sections under "scripting" in internet options are already enabled.

If you're still having trouble downloading from the Adobe site, you can download Flash player from here (direct link to zip)

Do you have any other security software running? Things like Zone Alarm or Norton Security Suite have options to allow or block scripts and cookies. Right-click their icons in the system tray to see which options are available.

Hi
Thanks for the zip. After restarting, it comes up with the same message.

I've checked my security suite and it's not the problem. Also, when I installed it flash was still working.

I need this to properly use things on the internet. All of the many flash objects don't work-all websites use them these days :s

I encountered this too, it seems fairly common - make sure you don't have a firewall setting or anti spyware program blocking it.
If not, what I was recommended to do [which fixed it] was to download the flash player from here. http://www.softwarepatch.com/internet/flash.html

It says it's for Internet Explorer but it worked for me with Firefox somehow - unless this was all a coincidence.

Thanks for the link. I've tried the installation and my internet settings again, but it still does not install.

Ok. There's a solution. One week of annoyance comes to an end:

1) Uninstall flash player using this: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/f...ash_player.exe
2) Install using this: http://www.adobe.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_msi

Thanks for those who contributed here : )
