MW Mail
WindowsXP Pro SP2
OfficeXP 2003 Internet Explorer 6.0 Outlook Express 6.0 AVG Free Edition Anti virus 7.5.430 MailWasher Pro 5.3 This question is directed to anyone that uses MailWasher Pro 5.3 I have visited the ‘FireTrust/ MailWasher” site but had no positive responses. On Startup, if I try getting MailWasher to download and open my mail via the MailWasher Icon in my ‘Quick Launch’ bar, it will eventually open it but it could take anything from 4 to 7 minutes I have tried systematically unchecking items in, Startup, ‘System Configuration Utility’ box, then I restart and again try to use MailWasher to get my mail. If no joy, I try again by checking the previous items I have unchecked and then uncheck another item, and restart. I have also tried uninstalling MailWasher and re installing it. The reason I believe that I have something wrong with MailWasher is because, if I use the Outlook Express icon in the ‘quick launch’ bar my mail is downloaded and opened almost instantly. Something else I discovered is that if, after opening my mail using OutlookExpress, and then exiting OE, is that if I click the MailWasher Icon in my ‘quick launch’ bar, the connection icon in my system tray keeps blinking but nothing else happens. If, while this is going on, I try to open another program, Excel for example, nothing happens for about 4 to 8 minutes then both programs open simultaneously. |

Sounds like your having some type of software conflict with MW. I use MW but the free version.
How does it respond when you use the desktop icon or All Programs option? Does it still lag in response time?

MW mail
Quote:
Season’s Greetings, Geek Girl I had this fixed once; no idea how I did it, but 2 day ago when I stated up and went online I received an update for Kodak Easy Share Software. Thinking that it was just an upgrade for files, I opened it. It turned out not to be file updates but the latest version of the Kodak Easy Share Software program. After restarting my computer, I could neither download my mail via Mailwasher Pro. 5.3 or with Outlook Express, nor could I open Internet Explorer. As I have always been plagued with trouble from the Kodak program I used the ‘ Restore System ‘ option to go back a few days and restore the system. I then cleaned up any left over files with another Kodak program, ‘ clear5l.exe ‘ ( I now transfer my photos direct to the computer. ) This cleared out all Kodak data but unfortunately it took my MW program back to taking ages to download mail. What is hard to understand is that, after waiting for, 8 to 15 minutes for MW to download the mail on my initial start-up, I can then shutdown or restart and using the exact same procedure to open my mail, MW will open it instantly. For this reason, I will have to wait until tomorrow when I start-up, to see if it will open the mail quickly using Outlook Express I am also using the AVG free edition 7.5 anti viruses. I don’t think this is the problem as I was using it when things were working OK. I used to use McAfee AV but, in my experience, it gave to much trouble and online or phone support was useless. |
