Internet Explorer won't open

Recently my computer did an automatic restart because some updates were made (or something like that). Ever since then, I cannot get IE to open anything (a new page, a hyperlink, etc.). I have to use another computer just to try to get help. I tried to do a system restore, but I can;t restore to an earlier date. I'm thinking it might be as simple as a pop-up blocker, but I can;t seem to find one that may be turned on. I've used Clean-Up, Ad-Aware, and Spybot\, but they don't help either. Any ideas? Thanks!

What's your system configuration? Any error message when you clicked on a link?

I'm not sure what you mean by system configuration. Windows XP. No error messages. The window flashes on the screen quickly, then disappears before any content can load. Does that explain it at all?

I have just run into the same problem. It was on a explorer update load. Now the screen comes on when requesting explorer however nothing will process or no internet available. I have the Big Fix from e-machines and calling it into play gets me a message "WARNING Conflict with Internet Explorer 7" I also tried to reset to an alternate date back a few days then weeks but it will not take.

Explorer 7 issues

Just a note to tell you that I was able to remove Exp.7 with the normal add and remove from the control panel and found that EXP.6 is reinstalled. All is fine now.

I think I have a problem with add/remove programs as well. IE 7 is not on the list. Also, there is a big black box in the list - it's about 100 lines long. I have no idea what itis, nor can I click anywhere on it to remove it. Could this be part of the problem? I can attach a HJT log if that would help. Thanks!

umm...glad to hear victor a is back to business now.
littlelester, it seems you had a problem with IE7 initial install. You may try to re-download IE7 from h**p://download.microsoft.com/download/3/8/8/38889DC1-848C-4BF2-8335-86C573AD86D9/IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe

This article might help you to remove that big blank box. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/266668
