IE 7 tabs
On one of my computers I can not get tabs - no tab bar. I turned off all add-ons, no spyware or viruses, turned off Norton, went back to IE 6 and reinstalled IE7 (ran it from the website, no manual intervention and don't even know how to download it an run it locally), restarted the machine prior to installation... out of ideas. Any suggestions? Oh, I also turned off any toolbars (adobe) in IE 6 prior to installation... Thank you.

Strange indeed. The problem PC is running XP-SP2 I assume? I don't know if IE7 would even install if SP2 isn't present, but SP2 is mandatory for it run properly. Forgive me if that is already blindingly obvious to you, I'm just trying to help!
I don't suppose the online installation is a factor, but installing it offline is worth a try. When you are offered the download, choose 'save' instead of 'run'. When you have the file on your Desktop for offline install (around 15Mb) initiate the installation but choose NOT to download the latest updates for it. Just install the download 'as is'. Needless to say, you should first remove the faulty IE7 ('Add/Remove Programs' with 'Show Updates' checked) which will then revert back to IE6, before trying to re-install as above. Thanks. I did uninstall IE7 first, am running SP2, and although I normally do, did NOT see a way to "save" it rather than run it. I thought that was odd also. I'll go through it again. Also, I turned all add-ons off in IE6 before the IE7 install (obviously I couldn't turn them off in IE7 prior to the install). I'll try again, looking for the save/run option. I've been getting it from the Microsoft website... is there any other you'd suggest so that save/run is obvious? Thanks a lot.
