IE7 Major Problem
I have a major issue with trying to use the latest release IE7 on my PC. I have recently downloaded and used the program on a couple of friends laptops and it worked fine, alot better than IE6.
However, i have today installed it on my home PC and upon reboot after installation Windows Explorer fails to load. All i get is wallpaper and no desktop with a message saying "windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close". I am able to get into task manager, from which i was able to open a web page file which loaded in IE7, which works fine. But when i try to run any programs from task manager it says i don't have appropriate permission. Any help on a way i can install IE7 without the hassles? |

Too many bugs in IE7 right now to clarify what your particular issue is.
If you want to uninstall it try booting into Safe Mode, if you are bent on using IE7, try Microsofts site. There are toolbars that are incompatible with Internet Explorer 7, the suggestion is to remove them: * Google Desktop--Google has fixed the issue that caused Internet Explorer 7 to stop responding when opening new tabs. Users need to install the latest version of the Google desktop. * MSN 1.02 Toolbar--The MSN 1.02 toolbar causes Internet Explorer 7 to stop responding. Users can download the latest version of the MSN Toolbar here. * Developer Toolbar and Internet Explorer 7 RC1--The latest version of the Microsoft Developer Toolbar runs correctly with Internet Explorer 7 Beta. You can download it from the Internet Explorer Download Page. Previous versions of the Developer Toolbar do not display correctly on systems running Internet Explorer 7 Beta and sometimes cause Internet Explorer to hang. * VeriSign's i-Nav™ Plug-in--Users of the VeriSign i-Nav IDN Resolver Plug-in might notice that they are unable to navigate to Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) in Internet Explorer 7 RC1. This is caused by Internet Explorer 7's enhanced support for IDNs. To navigate to IDNs in Internet Explorer 7 RC1, please open IE and click from the file menu Tools > Manage Add Ons > Enable or Disable Add Ons. Select the i-Nav browser extensions and "Disable" them. * RoboForm Toolbar version 6.3.96--Opening multiple tabs in Internet Explorer 7 with the RoboForm Toolbar might cause the browser to stop responding when it is used with Internet Explorer 7. * Cooxie Toolbar version 1.1.05--The Cooxie Toolbar might cause Internet Explorer 7 to stop responding. * Diodia Toolbar version 2.4.01--Internet Explorer 7 might stop responding when running this toolbar. * Ask Toolbar by AskJeeves version 4.0.1.1--Internet Explorer 7 might stop responding when running this toolbar. * Citi Card's Virtual Account Numbers version 3.7.0.0/134--Internet Explorer 7 cannot open after installation of the Citi Card's Virtual Account Numbers add-on. * Yellow Pages Toolbar version 4.0--Toolbar does not work correctly with Internet Explorer 7 installed. * Mojicon Dispenser--Toolbar can cause Internet Explorer 7 to stop responding. * Logos Word Toolbar--Internet Explorer 7 can stop responding if there are multiple tabs open with this toolbar installed. * Adelphia Toolbar version 1.2--Opening multiple tabs with this toolbar can cause Internet Explorer 7 to stop responding. http://msdn.microsoft.com/ie/releasenotes/default.aspx

I did try booting into safe mode, as well as the "last known good configuration" option and neither would open windows explorer. I managed to execute system restore using command prompt style safe mode and restore to before installation. I am still curious of why this issue came up considering the same IE7 version worked fine on the two laptops.

All systems are not alike, unless you purchased 2 identical laptops with the exact same specifications.
