Typed URLs and some not so typed...

Hi, everyone! I am a newbie to this site...one of the issues with being a newbie is that there are so many posts to go thru to see if your question has already been asked. I have made an attempt and could not find my question. If it is a repeat, I appologize in advance.

My address bar in IE drops down as I type with previously typed URLs plus many URLs that I haven't typed (but have visited), as well as some things on my desk top or favorites, and stuff I don't recognize. I have tried "typed URLs" in the registry, tried everything under Tools/Internet options, tried "URLBoss"...nothing seems to help at all.

Any help from you folks would be greatly appreciated.

Are you saying you want to clear that dropdown list? If so just go to tools>options and click clear history.

If what concerns you is the list of previous search terms that start to show as you type in a new search term for Google, that's just your browser's AutoComplete feature at work. It works on most web forms, and the Google search page is just one of those forms. To delete the contents of the AutoComplete list in Internet Explorer:

* Click on the Tools menu
* Click on Internet Options...
* Click on the Content tab
* In the Personal information section, click on the AutoComplete button
* Click on the Clear Forms button, and answer Yes to the resulting confirmation

Your Google AutoComplete history, as well as the AutoComplete history for any other web forms is now erased.

Dear Bicycle...Thank you very much for taking the time to provide such a detailed answer...but, as I said earlier, I tried that first and it did not work. It does clear forms, search bar data, and apparently any URLs I have typed in theIE Address Bar, but there is still a list called up (in the IE address bar) as I type. It appears to be sites I have visited through links, as well as stuff on my Desktop, my favorites, and things I just don't recognize. If Autocomplete is turned off, this dosen't happen. However, I like Autocomplete and would like to have it on. The whole issue is not a major problem, but it has become a challenge/puzzle/OBSESSION...

Thanks again
