IE 6 problems
Hello, am new to this, so a Big hi to everyone out there!
I have IE6 and Wondows XP home. The problems I am having are as follows: My home page: I cannot default to google. Everytime I rey it resets to other pages. Also I can view some websites, but others like ebay it will not let me view and comes up with the 'this page cannot be displayed message'. Some websites that i can view, I get a red cross where a pic should be. ie. cdwow.com I also seem to be getting the blue i page up quite a bit, saying cannot view due to technical problems (got this page when registering on this site!). I am also continuously getting cannot find server messages too! Please help, as getting seriously frustrated lol....and further to this, I am also finding that browsing is getting slower and slower. Have run adaware and spybot but nothing has been found. many thanks Cheryl Last edited by chez1971; 05-22-2006 at 04:29 PM. |

Hello Chez1971, and Welcome to TSF.
There's a couple of things that I can think of that might be causing this to happen, but let's take it one step at a time...... First up...Open up IE then > Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > tick the box 'Automatically detect Settings' > OK > Apply >OK. Close off the IE page; re-open it, and post back with the results. Kind Regards, Dave T.

Hello chauffeur2
I have already tried this. I know the basics around pc's, and tried this as one of my first options..This did not work. I have also gone to Trend Micro Housecall, and halfway through th scanning process, for some reason, my broadband connection is breaking. But if I go into Control panel and connections, it shows as still running! seems to be one thing after another at the moment! Chez x |

Does it always reset to the same page or does it reset do various pages?

This sounds like a typical search referrer which is stuck in your registry.
As chauffeur2 suggested, the best thing woud be to post your HiJack This log file on the appropriate forum for further assistance. Before you post, take a few minutes to read through MicroBell's 5 Step Proceedure as that may help solve the problem. Search referrers can sometimes be removed from the registry and problem solved but they can also be a sign of more serious infections deep in the system so it's worth getting it checked. Hope you get it sorted :-)
